  • 2400W Powerful motor for fast & efficient cleaning
  • Cyclonic Separation Technology – removes dust from the air stream
  • HEPA Filtration – traps smaller dust particles reducing allergy triggers (also washable)
  • Bag-less technology – convenient & saves you money in the long term
  • Adjustable Extension Tube, 5m long Power Cable and Crevice/Upholstery attachmen

The Designer Habitat – 2400W Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner is a powerful, compact and bag-less cyclonic vacuum cleaner with 2400W to provide fast, efficient cleaning of carpets, upholstery and hard floors.

HEPA Filtration: The HEPA (High Efficient Particle Arrester) filter traps smaller dust particles, preventing them being blown back into the room like with other vacuum cleaners, making this a perfect choice for homes with allergy sufferers.

Cyclonic Separation Technology: Once dust is collected it enters the dust bin and is spun at a high velocity around the dust bin. This spinning causes dust particles to be thrown from the air path. Cleaner air then continues through the HEPA filter, and out into your environment, reducing the chance of triggering allergies.

No Bags: The bag-less technology eliminates the hassle of buying new bags, saving you money in the long term.

Adjustable Extension Tube: Adjustable to your ideal length

After several years and even more rolls of gaffer tape holding things together in It’s final few months of overheating and weak suction my faithful old-ish Vax has finally bitten the. . . .dust 🙁

After much consideration and tight fistedness I thought I’d give this little orange cylinder vacuum a go! For your hard earned cash you get the hoover and three attachments and an instruction booklet.

I paid double for my old one so this review will be a bit of a comparison. There’s no use comparing this to a Dyson. My lovely better half has the latest super space travel ball-engined got more suck than Dracula on steroids Dyson and it’s in a league of its own, hence the £300 plus price tag which I just can’t justify for ‘a hoover’ so this one is the one for me 🙂

This one is 2400 watts, my old one was 2000. This one has a hepa 6 stage filtration system whereas my old one was 4. So the air should be much cleaner coming out of this. This one has rubberised wheels which move well over laminate flooring, my old one just had plastic wheels. Other than that they’re similar.

In use this little hoover is very good in my opinion. It cleaned the carpet in my living room really well, picking the pile up. With the crevice tool hoovering along the skirting was a breeze and there is a furniture and curtains tool too. The motor isn’t too loud and the hoover moves around nicely as the wheels are slick. The flexi hose is around 5 feet long and fits well into the vacuum itself. The power cord is the retractable type and is around 15 feet long. On/off and cord retract are just pressed with your feet to operate. Emptying the cylinder is easy enough. Make sure you read the instruction booklet so you know where all the filters are positioned so you can access them for occasional cleaning too. When using, the hot air is exhausted from the left side only as there’s no holes on the right side.

Very happy with this after a few uses. I will update this review if anything to report folks as I’ll be using this every day.

Just one thing. . .I noticed another reviewer mentioned it has no earth wire in the cord/plug. This is entirely normal. This Hoover is predominantly plastic and double insulated so. . .no earth wire needed! It’s impossible to get a shock from it in normal use.

    Glad I bought it 🙂

    Quick update 14/Oct. . .

I’ve just used the Hoover, still all okay, and emptied the cylinder out. As I closed it I pressed the catch down with my thumb that locks the lid and it cracked! I’ve uploaded a picture of the crack. Now the cylinder is still closed okay but its definitely a weak point if pressed. You can close the lid without pressing it but just so you know, be careful folks! I’m still happy with it though!

    Update 25/Oct. . .

The crevice tool has a little brush attached to it that swings around and turns the tool into a little vacuum brush which I suppose is for getting cobwebs and stuff from high corners etc. But I have found a brilliant use for this thing. It’s spot on for hoovering out your computer keyboard folks! It’s brilliant at this. My kids are buggers for eating toast and flakey pastry goods over the keyboard and I must admit a CSI team would’ve found a three course meal in there but it’s all gone now! No more turning your keyboard upside down and bashing the hell out of it 🙂

I like the design and size of this vacuum, but the moment I turned it on it smelled as if it was burning. I checked it carefully and could see nothing blocking suction in a way that would strain the motor. By the second use the vacuum died. I called Designer Habitat for help, but learned there is no warranty when purchased through Amazon — they just told me to contact Amazon. Initially I wanted a replacement, but Amazon will only give me a refund (so I must now carry this massive box to the post office instead of handing it to the delivery person). Clearly repairs would be complicated since Designer Habitat customer service won’t support an Amazon sale, so I intend to purchase another brand once my refund comes through.
